Adjective and linking verb (Little Ming, Little Fong and Elderly Keung)

(After school, along the corridor outside the staff room)
﹝放學後,在教員室外的走廊﹞
(Little Ming, Little Fong and Elderly Keung are talking.)
﹝小明、小芳和大強在談話。﹞

Little Ming: Excuse me, how do we use an adjective?
小明:請問要用 adjective ,可以怎樣用呢?

Little Fong: An adjective is for describing a person, an event or a thing. A linking verb is used in English to show an adjective.
小芳:adjective 是用來形容人、事、物,英文要用 linking verb 來表示。

Little Ming: What is a linking verb?
小明:甚麼是 linking verb?

Little Fong: A linking verb is used to "link" to an adjective. That is what a linking verb is used for.
小芳: linking verb 是連接動詞,拿來跟 adjective 來用,就最好不過了。

Little Ming: What word is a linking verb?
小明: 甚麼字是 linking verb ?

Little Fong: A linking verb is "is". For example, Jenny is clever. Peter is clever.
小芳: linking verb 有 is,例如: Jenny is clever. Peter is clever.

Little Ming: What is another linking verb?
小明:還有甚麼是 linking verb 呢?

Little Fong: Mmmmm...
小芳:還有……

Elderly Keung: Also "look". A good example is "John looks handsome." John really looks handsome.
大強:還有 look,如似 John looks handsome. 就是一個例子了,John 看起來很英俊呢!

Little Ming, Little Fong, Little Keung: Ha ha ha...
小明、小芳、大強:哈哈哈……
