Switching input methods in IBus

The Super key (Windows key) and the space bar can be used to switch input methods. When you type in English, you can type in Chinese by holding down the Super key and space bar.

The combination of the Super key and space bar is the default on Debian Jessie. In this case, pressing the Ctrl key and the space bar do not let you switch input methods.
